Friends of Manhattan Project NHP

The Friends of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park - Los Alamos (Friends of MAPR-LA) is headquartered in Los Alamos, New Mexico.  The hub of the Manhattan Project was situated in a remote region of northern New Mexico and was very secretive with limited access to the public.  Los Alamos grew from that secure city to the home of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, a premier National Laboratory that continues to supoort the safety and security of the United States.

The Manhattan Project National Historical Park is a National Park located in 3 sites.  Los Alamos is the originating scientific laboratory that developed the first nuclear weapon.  Other sites in the park are in Oak Ridge, TN and Hanford, WA.

Donations are used to support the National Park in Los Alamos. Projects include a grant from the Friends of MAPR-LA to support a "Teacher-Ranger-Teacher" project that developed the Junior Ranger booklet for young people.
